Rural Hospital Telecommunications Alliance

The Texas Rural Hospital Telecommunications Alliance was developed and is sponsored by TORCH, Texas Organization of Rural & Community Hospitals. The TRHTA web site provides the community and its members with information and access to resources of the Alliance.

Purpose of the Alliance
To provide a vehicle through which health care organizations may collaborate to improve access to and delivery of health care services utilizing telemedicine and other technology to the fullest potential.

Goals
To develop the telecommunications infrastructure and approach to the delivery of telehealth services to rural communities, using the TIFB Internet Connectivity Grant Program as the scalable foundation on which to build services.

To implement a long term TORCH-sponsored Technology collaborative to assist rural care providers with:

  • developing a technology plan for telecommunications services;
  • identifying and seeking funding for the Collaborative;
  • developing networking strategies and management services, including community approaches to telecommunications needs;
  • developing and/or identifying services that can be delivered through the use of telecommunications technology;
  • providing education, re-engineering, and training services for its members;
  • implementing the most cost effective approach to the implementation of telehealth services with the goal of increasing income and/or reducing costs.
